And So It Continues...

So once again, I did not get the job. It went to another who is older with more experience. This has been the trend...I am just too young with not enough experience. Funny thing is, I am not that young anymore. I may sometimes be mistaken for a high schooler (unfortunately this happens a lot), I may even have parents who question whether I am old enough to teach their children (again, this happens a lot), but the truth is I am inching ever closer to my late twenties. I know, I know, when I am in my forties I will love that fact that I look young, but right now I am just frustrated! You know it is a bad sign when the person you are interviewing with comments on how young you look...ugh! As for the experience thing, how in the world am I ever going to get it if I can't even get a job that will afford me the opportunity to build my skills?

So due to the wonderful economic crisis that we currently find this great country in, I am changing my career goals. I am going back to school! :) I am excited about the prospect of sitting in class again, writing papers, and taking tests. I know...I am weird, but I have always loved school. My ultimate goal has always been to teach music at a collegiate level, and in order to do that I need to obtain my masters degree and then start on the fun road to PHD...but for now Masters here I come! I am meeting with one of my favorite college professors next week to discuss grad schools and find out a little more information about the competing music programs in the area. He has his PHD, so he knows a little about the whole academic field. I am also starting up voice lessons again. I will have to audition to get in, and I am so excited about singing classical music again!

God has taken me on quite a journey these past few months. I pray that he will guide my steps and lead me in his path. Because, quite honestly, I have no idea which way to go.

Interview Update

I had my interview yesterday with Biola. It went well. Thank you to all who are praying. I left with a peace that God's will, will be done. If they do not offer me the job it will not be because of something I did, or did not say, but it will be because this is not where God wants me.

After the interview, I want this position even more, it would be a great fit and I would really love what I do. I won't hear either way until the end of March, so now I wait and continue to apply for other positions. God is teaching me patience and more importantly how to trust Him with all of me during this season of life. I am learning that I put more trust in what I can accomplish on my own than in waiting for God's best. Why is this so hard to do?

I miss her

Kelsey left on Wednesday for Greece...I miss her!

So far this past month has been a whirlwind, hence the lack of blogging. I have moved out of my cute apartment that I shared with Kelsey for the past 2 1/2 years and am now renting a room from a family. Unfortunately I seemed to have misplaced my camera cord in the move so it might be awhile before any new pictures of where I am living get posted.

I miss her, it was weird enough not coming home to kelsey anymore, but at least we still had our cell phones, and she was only a few miles down the road. Now, she is a whole ocean away. There are many time during the past few days since she has left that I go to call her, or text her and have to remind myself that I can't do that anymore. So Kelsey just so you know, you will never be out of sight out of mind...I miss you!!

New Job...well sort of

So I have a new job...well sort of. I am still working at Music Makers teaching piano and voice, and now I will also be working for a pop violinist, Cara-C. She has her bachelors and masters degree from Juillard in violin performance. She is an AMAZING musician! The good news...I am getting to use my degree, since I am helping her with music business stuff, as well as music editing, and also getting to do a little singing as well. Yeah for using my degree!! The bad news...its in LA and it is an internship, but luckily my hours are flexible so I miss all the horrible traffic!

In other news, the big move of 08 is still going on. I really should be packing right now, but then I would have to admit to myself that we are really leaving. This is harder than I thought it would be.

Goodbye #504!

Today is the last day of our apartment still looking like our apartment. :( Kelsey's mom is flying in today to help her pack up. We move our stuff into storage this weekend, and move out completely next weekend. We started this project as a little tour of our apartment and you can see what it has become. We had the best time making this and laughing the whole time. Its been a great 2 and a half years. I am going to miss it here, and miss Kelsey even more!

Im a Horrible Blogger!!!

I'm such a horrible blogger! So much has been happening so get ready for one big long update! :)

First off two weekends ago on a whim I decided to drive out to Arizona to audition for American Idol! I was there for less than 36 hours, most of which was spent sleeping. So it all began with me driving to work on Wednesday morning and thinking to myself..."self...you are in a rut and are in dire need of an adventure." So I texted Ryan and asked how he would feel driving out in the middle of the night to Arizona, stand in long lines, get little to no sleep, for an experience of a lifetime. Needless to say he said yes and at 12am that night we drove for 4 and a half hours (yes, I speed, and lets just say I might have been going over 100...oops!) and got into phoenix and went straight to the jobbing arena to get bracelets to audition the next day.

The overall experience was so much fun and really interesting to see how the show is produced. Lets just say they use the word "reality" very loosely. :) Ryan and I waited the whole next day at the stadium to audition, much of the waiting involved sleeping. There were some very interesting contestants who I am very sure will be featured on the show, including a girl wearing nothing but a tiny little bikini, another girl wearing a pink cowgirl outfit from head to toe, and a dreadful singer who managed to get the whole crowd clapping with him. Ryan and I didn't make it through the first round, however he had the judges in stitches while he sang Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer...with full on choreography! It was a great experience, and definitely the adventure I was looking for! :) After the audition we got back in the car and drove the 5 1/2 hours back to CA, lets just say I'm ok not taking a long drive for awhile. :) And for those of my dear friends who live out that way I am so sorry that I didn't get to see any of you, next time I am there I will make sure to give you a call!

After my return from Phoenix, I jumped right into working at Summer Spectacular. Summer Spectacular is Saddleback's (Rick Warren's church) versions of vacation bible school. Its pretty much VBS on steroids! :) My wonderful friend Stacey (on the far right) works at Saddleback in the 3rd and 4th grade ministries, she asked me if I could help her out with over 400 3rd graders. There were 3,000 children ages K-6th. It was so much fun!

The kids had a blast and best of all through all of their fun they got to learn more about Jesus and how much he loves and cares for them. The Bible verse was Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's masterpiece He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

Sorry about the long update. Thanks for reading!
